Project Description

In Lambeth, Kennington Lane is a purpose-built student accommodation scheme providing 185 student rooms across a nine-storey block, with communal amenities including study areas, laundry and shared spaces, plus a community café at ground level. T & T Roofing Limited delivered the flat roofing and terrace package for HG Construction over 48 weeks, completing in December 2025, with a contract value of £395,000 across approximately 900 m².

The specified manufacturer was Bauder, with the roofing scope forming a full system build-up to roof areas serving the main block and ancillary spaces. Works included SBS bituminous felt waterproofing, together with green roofing and high-quality terrace finishes. A key element of the project was the installation of porcelain paving to amenity terraces, requiring careful sequencing and interface control to protect waterproofing integrity prior to covering and to ensure falls, drainage and finished levels were achieved.

The site presented urban constraints, including restricted working space and limited access, with red routes requiring coordination (including with TfL arrangements) to facilitate deliveries. Close coordination was maintained with the fall arrest contractor to manage safe access and ensure compatibility between waterproofing and safety systems. Kennington Lane demonstrates T & T Roofing Limited’s ability to deliver roofing and terrace finishes to a high standard on constrained urban sites where the final appearance and long-term durability of covered roofs are critical.
